The use of dolomite sand

Dolomite sand can be used as the refractory inner layer of the reformer used in steelmaking, slagging agent, cement raw material, glass flux, kiln industry, fertilizer, stone for construction and decoration, paint, pesticide and medicine. It can be used in building materials, ceramics, glass and refractory materials, chemical industry, agriculture, environmental protection, energy saving and other fields.

China's converter linings mainly use tar-bonded dolomite bricks and tar-bonded magnesia dolomite bricks, and some factories use light-burning oil-impregnated and fired oil-impregnated magnesia dolomite bricks in vulnerable parts. Converters in Western Europe and Japan mainly use tar combined with heat-treated and fired oil-impregnated dolomite bricks and magnesia dolomite bricks. In addition, fired oil-impregnated magnesia dolomite bricks are also used as the lining of some out-of-furnace refining furnaces.

Dolomite is not only often symbiotic with oil and gas reservoirs, but also closely related to gypsum salt or metal deposits. The formation of dolomite is still controversial, and the focus is on the source of Mg2+ during dolomitization.

Dolomitization is often closely related to the deep activity of the basin, and is generally controlled by the deep hydrothermal activity; in the basin with more developed dolomitization, there is generally a low-velocity-high-conductivity layer in the deep part of the middle crust.

According to the homogeneous temperature data of fluid inclusions, it is found that the ambient temperature of dolomite formation is higher than that of calcite, and is usually much higher than the normal formation temperature. A comprehensive study shows that the low-velocity-high-conductivity layer of the middle crust in the deep basin is serpentinized peridotite. During the serpentinization process, a large amount of Mg2+ is released, and the Mg2+-containing hydrothermal fluid rises into the carbonate rocks of the basin to generate strong magnesium with CaCO3.
